摘　　要：学术英语词汇对专门用途英语教学具有重要意义。2000年Coxhead推出了"学术词汇表"(简称AWL),由于该词表所基于的Coxhead学术英语语料库内容偏重于人文社科,AWL并不适用于石油英语。基于石油英语语料库,遵循统一、严谨的学术词汇选词标准,创建了总词数为498个词的石油英语学术词表(简称PAWL)。虽然PAWL比AWL少了72个词,但它在石油英语中的覆盖率比AWL还高3.2%;而且PAWL和AWL子表相异程度高达91%。结果表明创建PAWL并编排PAWL子表将为石油英语教材的编写顺序提供必要的依据,使石油英语词汇教学具有更强的针对性。Academic English words play an important role in English teaching for special purposes,but the existing Academic Word List(AWL) covers mainly words of liberal arts and social sciences and does not contribute much to petroleum English teaching.The author then create a Petroleum Academic Word List(PAWL) of 498 words selected by a standard strictly consistent with Averil Coxhead's AWL standard.With 72 words less than those of AWL,PAWL covers 3.2% more petroleum words,and the level of difference between these lists is 91%.PAWL can provide a foundation for the compilation of petroleum English text books thus making petroleum English teaching more pertinent.
