摘　　要：洛克是否明确提出了一种现代民主理论,在西方学界一直是一个有争议的问题。从现代民主理论的五要素出发,依次考察洛克的人民主权观念、同意学说、代表观念、多数统治学说和反抗权理论。没有足够的文本证据支持认为洛克明确提出了一种现代民主理论的观点,但洛克对现代民主理论的形成和发展产生了巨大影响则毋庸置疑。Whether John Locke had self-consciously put forward a modern theory of democracy is a contentious issue in the western academic circle.Based on analysis on Locke＇s idea of popular sovereignty,doctrine of consent,concept of representation,doctrine of majority-rule and theory of resistance,we cannot find solid textual evidences to support the claim that Locke had some sort of modern theory of democracy.But it is of no doubt that Locke exerted great influence on the emergence and development of modern democratic theories.
