543 military officers are tested with SCL-90 to explore their mental health status so as to provide a certain reference for the mental health service in our army. The result shows that the scores of most factors are significantly lower than the servicemen norms, and higher than that of other categories of the military officers(P0.001).There are no significant differences at score of all items between female military officers and the norms of Chinese female Servicemen, but the phobic anxiety scores of female military officers are significantly higher than that of male military officers(P0.05).The scores of total scale and five factors(depression, anxiety, phobic anxiety,psychotics,add-on) of teachers in military academies are significantly higher than that of military political officers(P0.05~0.01).The level of 543 military officers′ mental health is higher than that of common servicemen and lower than that of another sample of military officers. There are differences at mental health status of military officers who have different sexes, ages, posts and records of formal schooling.Much close attention should be paid to the mental health of the teachers in military academies and the military officers who are female,or at middle age,or have high records of formal schooling.
