The experiment was conducted to study the effects of the ambient temperature and Vitamin C on immune organ development and anti-oxidative capability of reserve ducks.A total of 216 reserved laying ducks(JIN Ding duck,12 weeks old) were randomly divided into 6 treatments and each treatment contained 6 replicates with 6 ducks per replication. The trial lasted for 6 weeks. The basal diet supplemented 0,200 and 800 mg·kg-1 Vitamin C(VC),respectively. The ambient temperatures were(2±1) ℃ or(18±1) ℃,respectively. The results showed as follows: low temperature had a significant effect on thymus index(P0.05);VC had nosignificant effect on spleen index and the bursa of index(P0.05);the spleen index and the bursa of index showed escalating trend as the increasing of VC.The interaction of the low temperature and VC had a significant effect on thymus index(P0.05).Ambient temperature significantly affected the concen-tration of serum nitric oxide(NO) and VC(P0.05).In conclusion, the cold stress affected the synthesis of VC in vivo of reserved laying ducks. However, when diets supplemented with VC 200 mg·kg-1 increased the contents of serum VC and mitigated the trend of atrophy of thymus, spleen and bursa in the cold stress.
