摘　　要：母题表述的是一种集体的文化意识,源自于本民族的文化价值观、集体记忆和民族传统意识。母题中蕴涵的民族文化积淀决定了作品的文化倾向和人物的文化身份。希伯来文化一直是索尔贝娄的创作母题,它决定了贝娄的写作风格、语言表达、人物呈现和主题展开。对希伯来文化的认同使贝娄摆脱了边缘人的困境,成为一个超越种族和文化限制的人类作家。Motif derives from the culture value,collective memory and traditional consciousness of one＇s nation and exhibits the collective cultural consciousness.The culture tendency of the works and the culture identity of the characters are decided by the national culture embraced in the motif.Hebraic culture has always been the motif of Saul Bellow＇s creation.It determines the writing style,the language expression,the character display and the theme development of Bellow.The identification with Hebraic culture lets Bellow get rid of the trap of the dangling man and then become a writer who overcomes the limitation of races and culture and writes for all human beings.
