Carcass traits and four blood lipid parameters of 49-day-age strain A of Xianhu meat ducks were measured to study the correlations between them. The results were as follows:for male ducks, there was a significant and moderate positive phenotypic correlation between triglyceride (TG) and abdominal fat rate;breast muscle rate and leg muscle rate were moderate, significant and positive correlation to high density lipoprotein(HDL-c);low density lipoprotein(LDL-c)had a faint negative correlation with breast muscle rate, leg muscle rate, lean muscle rate and a faint positive correlation with abdominal fat rate and subcutaneous fat rate, both of which were insignificant. For female ducks, there was a significant and moderate positive phenotypic correlation between TG and abdominal fat rate;breast muscle rate, lean muscle rate had a faint positive correlation with HDL-c,abdominal fat rate, subcutaneous fat rate had a faint negative correlation with HDL-c;LDL-c had a moderate negative correlation with breast muscle rate;;LDL-c had a significant and moderate positive correlation with abdominal fat rate;there was no significant correlation between serum cholesterol and carcass traits. Conclusions could be drawn that TG in serum could be an assistant index for abdominal fat rate selection of Xianhu meat ducks,HDL-c for breast muscle rate selection of male ducks and LDL-c for subcutaneous fat rate selection of female ducks.
