摘　　要：在近年来的《图兰朵》热之外，其他几部有关中国题材的欧洲歌剧作品也引起了我国歌剧工作者的注意，在本刊中提到过的比较著名者就有莱哈尔的轻歌剧《微笑的国度》，这部歌剧和前面的《图兰朵》不同的是，它以优美抒情的手法表现了一幕现实生活里中国、奥地利青年男女相爱又不得不分离的抒情悲剧，Apart from Turandot that deals directly with a Chinese subject, there's also Franz Lehar's The Land of Smiles.The plot of Land of Smiles couldn't be more different from Turandot.A tragic story between a Chinese young man and an Austrian lady,The Land of Smiles is more vivid,touching,and much less cruel than Turandot.But the story also contains one element that might prove embarrassing to some:the Chinese traditional practice of polygamy.
