摘　　要："美在生命"的文学理想贯穿于沈从文湘西题材小说创作中。这些作品,热情赞美生命的健康与雄强,憧憬生命的淳朴、优美与向善,表现生命的沉迷和人性苏醒,成为中国现代文学史上一道缤纷璀璨的风景线。它不在于给文坛留下多少个性鲜明的人物形象,而在于凸显一种真实自然、健康雄强的精神气质,表征一种淳朴率真的文化形态和生命力量。沈从文歌唱生命的庄严和美,说到底还是为了"燃起这个民族被权势萎缩了的情感,和财富压瘪扭曲了的理性"。＂Beauty exists in life＂ is prevalent in Shen Congwen＇s novels of Xiangxi,which eulogize health and power of life,expect simplicity,beauty and kindness of life,reveal obssession of life and awareness of humanity,thus forming a gorgeous shool in Chinese modeern literature.Its focus is not how many striking characters the nivels leave,but a natural,strong and healthy spirit,symbolizing a simple culture and strength.Shen Congwen appraises the beauty and solemnity,actually in order to ＂inspire national feelings oppressed by power and rationalty flattened by wealth.＂
