The quest for peace through ceramic constructions

摘　　要：The role of peace in any given society cannot be over emphasized. In fact, no society can develop socially, culturally, morally and economically without peace. Therefore, when a society lacks peace in any form, it may likely fall into undesired conflicts, confusion or misunderstanding which can lead to under development and even the loss of lives and property. For example, the Boko Haram incidence of 2009 in Maiduguri, Borno state affected many lives and properties. This was due to lack of peace and understanding of the philosophical issues of religion and governance. Ceramic products are essentially home-based items that are often put to functional and aesthetic use. The paper discusses peaceful ambience and peace messages of some ceramic products in homes and how many more can specifically be constructed to advance the quest for peace in Nigerian homes and society at large. It is a view that societal peace can only be engendered by the amount of peace that exists at the domestic front.
