摘 要:This study investigates the problems raised in Cixous's The Laugh of the Medusa (1975) through the lens of Bakhtinian theory. The main purpose is to pursue the possibilities that Bakhtin's concepts, such as heteroglossia, dialogism, self and other, body, hold for Cixous. The study concludes that Cixous's ideas about writing the feminine and body are monologic. While Cixous preserves the space between self and other, Bakhtin also preserves that difference and emphasizes the dependency of the self on the other, thus Bakhtin's relations between self and other are dialogic. While Cixous's description of the 6criture feminine seems a dialogic discourse in practice, however, ecriture feminine remains monologic. While Cixous promotes that body serves as a site of resistance against the gaze of the masculine other, "body" in Bakhtin is on the one hand active and productive, and yet on the other hand in need of the other.
