IM 94 is an active antitumor component, which is screened and purified from animal secretion according to traditional Chinese medical science and modern scientific knowledge.Primary active elements of IM 94 have been defined as 2 binding proteins with molecular weights of 17kD and 20kD, respectively. In the present paper, the effects of IM 94 on the immunologic function of mice were investigated by immunological techniques and biochemical analysis. It was found that higher doses of IM 94 could not only reverse cyclophosphamide induced low immunologic function, restoring it to the control level, but also raise immunologic response to a higher level well above the normal. The detailed results were as follows:1)25mg/kg,50mg/kg and 100mg/kg IM 94 could all obviously improve phagocytic index and no significantly different effect was found among the 3 doses;2)All the 3 doses of IM 94 administrated in the test(25mg/kg,50mg/kg and 100mg/kg)could greatly increase the number of plaques in a dose dependent manner;3)Higher doses of IM 94(50mg/kg~100mg/kg or 200mg/kg)could enhance lymphocyte transformation ability, increase value of HC 50 ,microphage phagocytic function and improve NK cell activity, while 25mg/kg IM 94 had few effects on those functions. Past and present findings indicate that IM 94 can be considered as a promising immunopotentiator as well as an antitumor agent with little side effect and good efficacy.
