Hydrocarbon component and isotope composition would be fractioned during the generation, immigration and conservation of natural gas.During the generation of natural gas,the fractionation effect is caused by the activating energy difference of base groups which could break off from parent materials and translate into hydrocarbon gas.At low maturity stage, base groups with low activating energy could break off and translate into hydrocarbon gases with light isotopic. At high maturity stage, base groups with high activating energy translated into hydrocarbon gases with weight isotopic similar to parent material.During the immigration of natural gas,the fractionation effect is caused by the differences of dissolution, adsorption and diffusion abilities among different components or same component with different isotopic molecules, corresponding to dissolving, dissociating and diffusing immigration models respectively.Microbial degradation is an important fractionation cause of natural gas in gas reservoirs.Microbial degradation process is controlled by the microbial types and kinetics mechanism.Samples of gas reservoirs with the fractionation effects of natural gas during immigration and conservation are given.
