Objective To investigate the relationship between two functional polymorphisms of the ApoB gene and infection of hepatitis C virus(HCV).Methods PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) technique was used to analyze the genotype of the ApoB gene in 190 anti-HCV positive hemodialysis patients(cases) and 398 anti-HCV negative hemodialysis patients frequency-matched to the cases by age and sex. Results The genotype frequency of GG,GA,and AA of G-4154A was 84.2%,4.2%,and 1.6% for the cases and 91.5%,8.0%,and 0.5% for the controls with significant differences between the two groups(P0.05 for all). The number of potients with A allele and G allele were 347 and 33 for the cases and 760 and 34 for the controls with significant difference between the two groups. There was no significant difference in genotype frequency of C-2488T polymorphism between cases and controls. Conclusion The results reveal that the polymorphism of the ApoB gene may be associated with the susceptibility to HCV infection.
