摘　　要：伊迪斯·华顿一直是深受批评界关注的美国重要作家。新世纪以来,随着西方文学批评思潮的不断发展,华顿研究也出现了相应变化。本文从三个方向梳理评述华顿批评的新方向。首先,借助性别研究最新成果,华顿的女性主义问题在当代语境下得到了进一步开拓;第二,文化研究(包括族裔研究、媒介和物质文化研究等)启示学者重新看待华顿研究中的某些传统悖论;最后,华顿创作的文学流派之争,不能简单以"主义"标签统而概之,而应该建立在缜密辩证的文本分析之上。With the development of Western literary theories in the twenty-first century,Edith Wharton studies continues to attract academic attention from various critical schools.Over the last decade,scholarship on Wharton has taken on a new outlook.This essay presents three new directions in current criticism on Wharton：first,a fresh interpretation of Wharton＇s problematic feminist stance is conducted from the lens of gender studies; second,cultural studies（e.g.ethnic and racial studies,media and material culture studies）has shed new light on some central paradoxes in the study of Wharton;third,it is argued by some scholars that Wharton should not be labeled with any＂-ism,＂but be scrutinized on the ground of textual studies.
