摘　　要：郭实腊是第一个拉开向英语世界译介《聊斋志异》序幕的人。当时"西强中弱"的历史文化语境以及郭实腊的传教目的决定,他在翻译过程中会对原文实施跨文化操纵。具体操纵手段表现为:将《聊斋志异》塑造成一本宣扬"异教信仰"的书籍、大幅改写原文的情节和主旨。Karl Friedrich August Gutzlaff was the first person who introduced and translated Liaozhaizhiyi into the English world. He made a cross-cultural manipulation of the original in the process of translation, reshaping Liaozhaizhiyi as book of paganism and rewriting plot and motif of the original, which is decided by the historical and cultural context in which he translated Liaozhaizhiyi and his translation purpose--to missionize Christianity in China.
