Objective To investigate the roles and significance in patients with preeclampsia with observing the level of soluble Endoglin(sEng) in patients with preeclampsia. Methods 40 patients were enrolled in the present study.Among the 40 patients,10 cases were mild preeclampsia and 30 cases were sever preeclampsia.40 healthy pregnant women were selected as the control group over the same period. The serum sEng was measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results The serum sEng was 7.38±1.78 ng/ml in preeclampsia group and 2.17±0.59ng/ml in normal group.Serum sEng in patients with preeclampsia was significantly higher than those in controls(P0.01).The level of sEng in maternal serum was 7.94±1.27ng/ml in sever preeclampsia group and 5.72±1.09 ng/ml in mild preeclampsia group. The sEng levels were higher in severe preeclampsia compared to mild.Serum sEng levels increased in accordance with the severity of preeclampsia. Conclusion Serum sEng levels is significantly increased in patients with preeclampsia and increased with the severity degree of diseases.
