Objective: To analyze effect of community nursing on hypertension control, and to explore a role of non-drug treatment for patients with mild hypertension. Methods: One hundred and fifty-four patients were diagnosed mild hypertension during a physical examination.Patients were cared with face to face education, free health data, phone interviews, and home visitation.Healthy life way and exercises in daily were advised to patients, and they were provided psychiatric nursing.Blood pressure measurement was done every season for patients with mild hypertension, and healthy was investigated one year later. Results: Blood pressure began to decrease since community nursing plans were performed, and significant lowering was observed after first season nursing.Systolic blood pressure(136.9±7.1 vs 148.6±7.3 mmHg,P0.01) and diastolic blood pressure(80.9±6.3 vs 93.6±6.5 mmHg,P0.01) were significantly lower in patients with mild hypertension after one year community nursing.Lowering of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure was negative correlation with patient age other than sex. Conclusion: Community nursing can control blood pressure for patients with mild hypertension without drug treatment.Effects become more significant for young patients.
