Objective:To investigate the variations in erythrocyte deformabilities( ED) and levels of nitric oxide( NO) in senile patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease( ICVD) of blood stasis syndrome( BSS) . Methods:In 5 5 senile patients with ICVD of BSS the index of ED and levels of NO were detected.Among them 2 5 cases were transient ischemic attack( TIA) ,3 0 cases were cerebral infarction ( CI) .In addition 2 6normal subjects were established as a control group and the com parative observations were carried out.Results:In pa- tients with BSS the index of ED ( 0 .4 67± 0 .14 5 ) was significantly lower than that ( 0 .5 0 8± 0 .14 1) in control group ( P <0 .0 5 ) ,furthermore its decrease in patients with CI( 0 .4 43± 0 .15 6) was much m ore significant ( P<0 .0 1) .Regarding the variations in levels of NO in patients with TIA there were not significantdifferences ( 79.10± 15 .3 7vs.76.70± 17.10 ) compared with control group but in patients with CI they ( 88.5 0± 13 .68) were significant increased.Conclusions:Both the changes in ED and the increase in NO level in certain extent are related to the etiology and pathologic changes of senile ICVD of BSS.
