摘　　要：GIS是在计算机硬件与软件支持下,运用系统工程和信息科学的理论,科学管理和综合分析具有空间属性的地理数据,以提供对规划、管理、决策和研究所需信息的空间信息系统。经过40年多的发展,其应用领域已由最初的特殊专业迅速扩展到各行各业。为此,对GIS的产生、发展、概念、组成、功能和分类进行了简要介绍,同时对GIS在我国农业病虫害管理应用情况和应用前景进行了展望。Geographic Information System（GIS） is a spatial information system,which depends on computer hardware and software,uses systematic engineering and informational science theories,scientifically manages and synthetically analyzes geographic data of spatial attribution so as to provide necessary information to programming,managing,researching and so on.Through 40 years development,its application has extend2ed from specialties to various kinds of fields.This paper briefly states engendering,development,concept,composition,function,assortment of GIS and introduces its status quo of application the information management in Chinese agriculture diseases and pests and it makes a primary discussion about t he existing problem and looks into the future of GIS application.
