摘　　要：共和之初的罗马为了生存与发展,不断地与强敌抗争,在短短的300多年中,罗马就由台伯河畔的小城邦一跃成为囊括欧亚非三大洲的大帝国。罗马民族将个人的命运与国家的命运、个人的事业与国家的事业紧密联系在一起,形成了"忠勇卫国,甘于牺牲"的爱国奉献精神,从而有效地推进了国家的扩张进程。In order to survive and thrive, Roman had to fight with the formidable enemies continuously in the early Republic. During a short period of three centuries, Roman expanded itself from a small city state by the Tiber river to a great empire which covered the Europe, Asian and Africa. With destiny and future tied closely to the na tion, Roman people cultivated a strong patriotism, namely ＂To guard the safety of the country fearlessly and loyally and to be ready to sacrifice for the country＂, thus pushed the country＇s expansion effectively.
