摘　　要：公共图书馆承担社会责任是当今时代发展和社会进步的客观需要,也是公共图书馆自身存在的主观要求。公共图书馆的社会责任可以从保存文献资源、推进社会教育、传播先进文化等方面加以认识。当前,必须通过宣传教育、完善制度、强化政府引导和建立评估机构等手段,不断提升公共图书馆践行社会责任的积极性和能力。It is the objective need of current era＇s development and social progress for public library to bear social responsibility, but also the subjective requirements of public libraries＇ own existence. Public libraries＇ social responsibility can be recognized from the preservation of literature resources, promotion of community education, spreading advanced culture and so on. Currently, it must be through propagating and educating, improving the system, strengthening the government＇s leading and setting up means such as appraisal agency, etc, so as to constantly promote enthusiasm and ability of public library in fulfilling community responsibility.
