左徒戈为徒戈考  

The Argument that the So-called Zuotu Ge-dagger Ax is Actually Tu Ge-dagger Ax

摘　　要：左徒于1983年出生于山东莒南县小窑大队,蕴章和瑞吉先生认为此戈为战国时期兵器,＂左徒＂为战国时楚国官名，但对“左徒”为官名未展开论证。刘彬徽先生认为“此为楚某一左徒之戈，年代约为战国晚期”。The so-called ＂Zuotu Ge 左徒戈＂ was unearthed in Junan County,Shandong Province in 1983.Some scholars suggested that the ＂Zuotu＂ in the inscription of this ge-dagger ax referred to an official title of the Chu State.However,through the observation to the shapes,the contents and formats of the inscriptions on the bronze ge-dagger-axes of the Zhou Dynasty and compare them with that of this ＂Zuotu Ge＂,we can see that this ＂Zuotu Ge 左徒戈＂ was actually not ＂the ge-dagger ax of Zuotu＂ but the ge-dagger ax of the ＂tu（infantry）＂ of ＂zuo（Left Army,or a human name）＂ and had nothing to do with the official title Zuotu of the Chu State which was once assigned to Qu Yuan.This ge-dagger ax would be the weapon used by the infantry of the Left Army of certain state.
