摘  要:High dose methylprednisolone intravenous injections are effective in treating acute spinal cord injury but can have severe side effects. In this study, we investigated intrathecal delivery of methylprednisolone for the treatment of spinal cord injury. In particular, we examined the effects of varying doses of methylprednisolone intrathecal injections on neuronal apoptosis induced by secondary damage. The results demonstrate that intrathecal injections inhibit the expression of interleukin-lβ, significantly lower expression of caspase-3, and reduce the number of apoptotic neurons, High dose methylprednisolone (0.75 mg/μL) was much more effective at reducing neuronal apoptosis than low dose methvlprednisolone (0.01 ma/μL.High dose methylprednisolone intravenous injections are effective in treating acute spinal cord injury but can have severe side effects.
