Objective To explore the effect of chlorine dioxide delayed release gel on wound healing of rabbits. Methods The irritation of the chlorine dioxide delayed release gel to the skin was test with normal saline, the blank gel matrix and 1.5% formaldehyde solution as the controls in the same rabbits, and its effect on wound healing by skin irritation test and effect test, and the average rates of wound healing were observed in one week and the wound was photographed. Results The chlorine dioxide delayed release gel, saline and the blank gel matrix were not irritant to the skin of rabbits, but 1.5% formaldehyde solution had strong irritation to the skin of rabbits. The average rate of wound healing was 100% after smearing chlorine dioxide delayed release gel for six days, and it was not significantly different from the effect of mupirocin ointment. The effect of chlorine dioxide delayed release gel on hemostasis was conspicuous. Conclusion The chlorine dioxide delayed release gel has the advantages of rapid hemostasis and wound repair, and can be used to prevent and cure the wound infection with a satisfactory effect, which provides a reasonable and effective new drug program for the treatment of wound infection in clinics.
