This study was to investigate the changes of peripheral blood cells of piglets with high pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(HP-PRRS).The viral loads and blood routine of peripheral blood were tested in groups of 60 days old Chang-Bai piglets inoculated by PRRSV HuN4 strain. Results The virus was detected from serum of piglets at each sample collection period through the end of the trial, and the amounts of PRRSV RNA ranged over 103 copies/mL.Compared with the results of control groups, the levels of WBC were significantly lower(P0.05),the levels of RBC,HGB,HCT were significantly lower(P0.05) and then significantly higher(P0.05),the levels of PLT was significantly lower(P0.05).The log values of PRRSV load in serum of principal piglets had moderate negative correlation with the levels of WBC and PLT(0.40r0.69),and had weak or low negative correlation with the levels of HGB and MCH(0.20r0.39).The results from the examination of the blood samples from HP-PRRS piglets changed significantly, suggesting that HP-PRRS has persistent infection, immune suppression, local and general circulatory disturbances of the blood.
