Objective To investigate the effect of music-relaxation-training on cancer patients with depression and anxiety during different radiation therapy stages. Methods A total of 61 hospitalized patients with cancer were divided into two groups by the order of time when they began to accept the radiotherapy. One group of 30 patients(intervention group) received music-relaxation-training and the other group of 31 patients(control group) did not.All patients filled out Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) during different radiotherapy stages. Results The scores of HAMA and HAMD showed that there were no differences of anxiety and depression between the intervention group and the control group at week 0 of radiotherapyt=0.026,P=0.979);HAMD(t=0.906,P=0.369)],which were significantl at week 4t=2.763,P=0.008);HAMD(t=2.134,P=0.037)] and week 8t=2.468,P=0.016);HAMD(t=2.578,P=0.012)].Conclusion The music-relaxation-training in clinical can help the cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy to relieve anxiety and depression, and increase the patients' compliance with the cancer treatment.
