摘　　要：介绍几种基于小波的极低码率视频编码技术及其应用。在世纪交替之际，出现了许多新颖和特殊需求的应用领域，例如会议电视、移动通信中的视频传输等等。这些应用的出现，为极低码率的视频编码研究重新注入了新的动力。并且，随着多媒体通信技术和ＶＬＳＩ技术的飞速发展，极低码率视频编码技术将会在众多领域中得到重视。In this paper, several very low bit-rate video coding technologies based on wavelet are presented.By the turn of the century, novel and very demanding applications, such as videoconference and video transmission on mobile communications are emerging, which have given a renewed impetus to the research in the area ofvery low bitrate video coding. Moreover, with the rapid growth of multimedia communication technology and VLSItechnology, very low bit-rate video coding will be attractive in many areas.
