Echinochloa crusglli(L.) Beauv was processed with four nitrogen treatments. The biomass of its various organs, clump height, tiller number and 1000-grain weight were determined in 3 periods. The characteristics of biomass allocation and the dynamic changes of the quantitative characters of reproductive tiller were analyzed. The results indicated that: in either flowering or grain filling period, with the amount of nitrogen increased, total plant dry weight, dry weight of various organs increased.Total biomass, nutrition and reproductive biomass and the clump height, number of tillers and spike number per plant showed significantly positive correlation to the increase of nitrogen, but no correlation to the reproductive allocation was observed. The height of the tillers showed positive correlation to inflorescence length, total biomass, nutrition biomass and reproductive biomass, but negatively correlated with ratio of reproductive growth, reproductive allocationⅠand Ⅱ.In the grain filling period, higher reproductive allocation reacted to N0,N3.Reproductive tillers take different reproductive strategies to adapt the limited resources in different growth conditions.
