摘　　要：目的:了解我国医院科室护士长队伍建设状况及所面临的突出问题。方法:在课题组专家论证基础上自行设计问卷,并在全国8省市40家医院开展整群随机抽样,回收有效问卷344份。结果:科室护士长高级职称比例和工资待遇偏低,参与医院决策程度不高;有72.4%的人认为限制自身发展的首因是"缺乏系统管理知识培训"。结论:应建立一种良性的培养、选拔和使用科室护士长的机制,实现护理管理科学化和规范化,促进我国护理事业的可持续发展。Objective： To investigate the current role and function of head nurses in targeted hospitals.Methods：A total of 344 or 86.0% head nurses in 40 hospitals of 8 provinces by cluster random sampling were completed the self-designed questionnaire. Results：There are low level of promotion, income, and power of head nurses in their nursing management. About 72.4% head nurses thought the primary cause of limited development was deficit of systemtic management training, Conclusion：in order to sustain the nursing development,it is time to establish a optimum mechanism to cultivate, select and utilize head nurses.
