身份流放的悲剧——从《人性的污点》看菲利普·罗思的身份观

摘　　要：《人性的污点》作为菲利普.罗思的后美国三部曲中的最后一部,讲述了一个为追求其美国梦而将自己的黑人身份逾越为白种犹太人,最后却为社会所流放,陷入了身份悖论中的悲剧故事。在小说中,罗思充分运用了象征主义手法,采用多个意象,甚至模仿了古希腊悲剧的结构,表现了身份逾越的悲剧。而隐藏于全文中最主要的一个特点就是以圣经为原型的流放模式,罗思将"流放"贯穿到主人公科尔曼的族裔身份、社会身份以及心灵深处,突出而生动地表现了作者对美国社会的身份观:身份逾越不可能带来美国梦的实现,注定是个悲剧。本文笔者从流放传统入手,结合罗思的创作特点与其历史语境,分析文本,看罗思贯穿在文本中的身份观。As the last book of the recent trilogy of Philip Roth, The Human Stain tells a tragic story of an Afro-American who chases his American Dream by passing his identity to a Jew but finally exiled by his society and lost in the paradox of identity. In this book, Roth applies a great deal of images to be the symbols of the protagonists, embodying the tragedy of negotiating identity. Yet the main characteristic is the exile tradition running through all the aspects of the hero Coleman Silk, including group identity, social identity and even his soul. These problems reveal Roth＇s thought on identity in American society： negotiating identity is predestined to be a tragedy, unable to realize the American Dream. The present author focuses on the exile tradition, analyzing Roth＇s identity combined with Roth＇s writing characteristics and his social context.
