An experiment was conducted to study the physiological effects of nanometer TiO2 on lndocalamus barbatus leaves sprayed with nanometer TiOz at concentrations of 0, 150, 300,450 mg·L^-1( CK, T150, T300, T450). Results showed that nanometer TiO2 treatment could increase the contents of soluble protein, free amino acids, total nitrogen, total phos- phorus, and total potassium in L barbatus leaves, stimulate its antioxidant activities, and decrease MDA content. Different concentrations and time show various effects on L barbatus leaves. Nanometer TiO2 at a concentration of 150 mg · L^-1 exhibited the best effect. Compared with the control, the contents of soluble protein, free amino acids, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total potassium of L barbatus leaves in T150 treatment after one month of treatment increased by 13. 81%, 15.00%, 19.62%, 19.20% and 16.61% respectively, while MDA content decreased by 15.76%. After 9 days of treatment, activities of SOD and POD of L barbatus leaves in TI50 treatment increased by 20.56% and 25.89% respectively, which were significantly different from the control (p〈0.05). The above results appear to indicate that exogenous nanometer SiO2 treatment could effectively improve the nutritional function of L barbatus leaves and increase their stress tolerance.
