摘　　要：从盎格鲁-撒克逊时期到近现代,英语文学家们塑造了一大批撒旦式人物,他们具有异乎寻常的英雄气质,又体现了令习惯于传统观念的人们难以接受的思想性格和价值观。撒旦式人物挑战占统治地位的社会、道德、宗教秩序和权威信仰体系,为人的发展开拓了更为广阔的空间。他们植根于英格兰社会和文化,以其特别的形象体现了英国的历史变迁和文化发展。那些特别杰出的英语文学家运用其特殊的道德模糊性进行深刻的道德探索,取得了很高的文学成就,形成了英语文学中一个重要传统。From the Anglo-Saxon period to modern times,English writers have created a series of Satanic figures,who have unusual heroic qualities but also embody characters and values unacceptable to traditional people.Satanic figures challenge the mainstream social,moral and religious order and authoritative faith.They open a new space for human development.They are rooted in English society and culture,and represent the social change and cultural development of England.Outstanding English writers make use of their special moral ambiguities in profound moral exploration.Satanic figures have formed an important tradition in English literature.
