摘　　要：赫德是英国人,他效忠于英国,是人情之常。同时,他在中国工作长达52个年头,对中国文化造诣颇高,对中国也很有感情,反对列强瓜分中国,高度赞扬义和团的爱国精神,希望中国变法图强,并且预言中国必将昌盛强大。可以说与他的效忠英国并行不悖。Robert Hart was a British, loyal to Britain in his own right. Having worked for 52 years in China, well immersed in Chinese culture and attached to the Chinese people, he strongly opposed the division of China by the powers, and thought highly of the patriotic spirit of the Boxers, hoping that China should get strong by reform and predicting that China would prosper..It can be concluded that his love of China was compatible with his loyalty to his motherland.
