摘　　要：本文探讨了早期美国自然主义文学的文化价值、科技价值、伦理价值与文学价值,回顾了对亨利·梭罗及后世自然主义文学作家产生重要影响的早期文学作品,并开创了研究早期美国自然主义文学的新视角。本文开拓了探讨特定地域、能反映生态价值和生态美学思想的各类题材的文学作品的研究视域。因此,既适于普通读者一般性的阅读,又适于生态文学批评领域、美国研究领域、文化研究领域、环境史学及环境哲学研究等领域专家学者的深入性阅读与探讨。This critical introduction discusses the cultural, scientific, ethical, and literary values of early American nature writings. It surveys the long tradition that prefigures and anticipates Henry David Thoreau and his literary descendants, while bringing a new perspective to the study of early American environmental writings. In its treatment of place-based texts in a variety of genres and reflecting a range of environmental values and aesthetics, it opens up a new area of scholarship and will be of interest both to general readers and to scholars in the cognate fields of ecocriticism, American studies, cultural studies, and environmental history and philosophy.
