英语委婉语的交际功能

摘　　要：委婉语是英语中一种常见的修辞手法，是用曲折、温和、含蓄的方式表达思想的语言，让对方能从心理上淡化甚至消除某些不愉快，营造轻松愉快的交流氛围。本文从其内涵、表达方式及其交际功能三方面进行了较为详细地阐述，使读者既能有效地传递信息，又能达到满意的修辞效果。Euphemism is a common rhetoric device in English,which is used to exchange thoughts and feelings in a mild, vague and indirect way in order to reduce or even dispel something unpleasant and make a comfortable atmosphere. The paper illustrates its defination, ways of expressions and the communicative function, so the readers can not only convey information but also achieve satisfactory effect of rhetorical figures.
