It was reported that the company's 'made in Italy' products were actually made in China, shipped to China's border, and then suddenly became 'imported'.The origin is an unalienable feature of all products. The recognition it receives in producing, trading, conveying, consuming and social cognition differs at different times. The origins of local products and specialties have been the simplest and clearest. Among the factors which influence the prices of such goods, the origin is the most important one and has the heaviest effect. As to the other products, especially those processed and those treated with complicated techniques and materials, the standards and rules of origin-identifying are not so easy. The global trade still lacks a set of rules of origin which can be applied anywhere, although a consensus of its basic factors has already been achieved.When the value of brand becomes a main part of the commodity's value, especially when it plays a vital role in pricing the commodity, the origin is attached tightly to the brand. It receives more attention than before as the global trade has become so advanced and matured. But the consumers have been left far behind. They lack the know-how of identifying the origins of goods. The fake goods can easily find their way in such a market, especially in the luxury goods market.
