摘 要:Flume studies were carried out at the Theodor Rehbock Laboratory, to examine the Processes of step POOl formation and the stability of mountain river beds. The study was conducted in a 20 cm wide tilting flume at slopes of & and 10%. A wide sieve curve ranging from 1 to 64 nun scaled 1:8 from the hainbach near Benediktbeuren in the Bavarian Alps was used. In the experiments different stable stages of the bed could be observed. The stabilisation was characterized by considerable armorring and a significant change in the geometry of the step pool bed forms. Even after no further coarsening of the bed could be measured, several new stages of bed stability where observed, requiring a greater shear stress to cause incipient motion than before. During the development of a stable river bed the arrangement of the boulders forming the steps perpendicular to the flow became more and more regtilar.Simultaneously the length of the steps increased with discharge. The tests showed that the change in bed morphology has an influence on river bed stability.Flume studies were carried out at the Theodor Rehbock Laboratory, to examine the Processes of step POOl formation and the stability of mountain river beds.
