摘　　要：CHU Tunan,the famous 94-year-old histori-an and social activist,has a brilliant andprofound opinion on culture exchange,thefruit of his long involvement in it.In considering any culture,Chu’s approach is todiscard the dross and select the true metal. Thisapplies not only to Confucius and Confucianism,but also to all cultures,whether indigenous orforeign.Japan is doing better than China in thisrespect.The country had developed very rapidly,but the Japanese have no difficulty admitting thatChinese traditional culture has played an importantrole in their progress.
