A simple and efficient method using spiral wire turbulence promotors in the glass tube is recommended. A series of experiments were conducted, and the correlations of heat transfer and friction have been obtained. Performance evaluations for the enhanced heat transfer in this heat exchanger are summed up and discussed. Based on the viewpoint of thermodynamics, the available energy loss of the heat transfer system inside the tube is analysed to determine and evaluate the overall effect of the enhanced heat transfer. The mechanism of enhanced heat transfer in the glass tube and the influence of turbutivity in the rough tube are also analysed and discussed.
