摘　　要：The big blue bump in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) was considered as the thermal radiation from a thin accretion disk. However, the explanation has been challenged by several observational tests in recent years. Trying to overcome the shortage, Barvainis proposed free-free emission mechanism, and successfully fitted the spectrum of AGNs.
