摘　　要：本文运用M.A.K Halliday系统功能语法的三大元功能对帕特里克.亨利的演讲"不自由,毋宁死"进行功能语篇分析。探讨了该演讲如何通过及物性系统、语态系统和归一性系统实现概念功能,如何通过语气系统和情态系统实现人际功能,如何通过主位结构、信息结构和主位推进结构实现语篇功能。从而揭示出该演讲能够成功实现其政治劝说,名留千古的原因。From the perspective of three meta - functions, this paper analyzes how a speech fulfills the ideational function through transitivity, voice and polarity, the interpersonal function through mood and modality, and the textual function through theme--rheme structure, information structure and cohesion with Patrick Henry＇ s speech as a sample. It thus reveals how the speaker manages to fulfill his political persuasion and this speech leaves its mark on history.
