摘　　要：美国作家马克·吐温习惯于以幽默文体折射当时的社会现实,目的是让人们通过幽默更充分地了解当时的现实世界。他的代表作《苦行记》是19世纪淘金热时期美国西部奇迹般繁荣的写照,它运用轻松的西部黑色幽默,反映了现实社会中值得人们关注和深思的尔虞我诈现象,表现了欺骗这一严肃主题。Mark Twain,the great American writer,consistently employed humor style in his works as a technique to reflect the American society of his time to allow people to fully understand the real world by humor.As the masterpiece of Mark Twain,Roughing It outlines a wide variety of unexpected reality of western America.It employs light-hearted western black humor to reflect a serious theme—the deception theme embodied by the cheat and fraud phenomenon of the society.
