Objective To observe the influence of valsartan on serum peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ(PPAR-γ) and heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) levels in hypertension patients and the relations with renal protection of hypertension patient. Methods Sixty patients with hypertension were randomly divided into conventional therapy group(30 cases) and valsartan therapy group(30 cases),after 16 weeks medication, the blood levels of PPAR-γ and HO-1 were detected with euzymelinked immunosorbent assay, and urine β2-microglobulin and urine small protein were detected at the same time. Results The blood levels of PPAR-γ and HO-1 in hypertension patients were lower than in healthy people. After 16 weeks drug therapy, the levels of PPAR-γ and HO-1 were increased significantly in valsartan group than that in conventional therapy group(P0.01);urine β2-microglobulin and urine small protein were decreased after valsartan therapy(P0.01).Conclusion Valsartan therapy can increase the levels of PPAR-γ and HO-1 in hypertension patients,at the same time,it can decrease urine β2-microglobulin and urine small protein. So we presumed that the renal function protection effect of valsartan in hypertension patients may due to its regulating on the expression of inflammation factors.
