亚哈的“疯狂”:兼论卡莱尔对麦尔维尔的影响

摘　　要：十九世纪以理性为主导的资本主义工业文明背景下,《白鲸》船长亚哈因其对科学及金钱的不屑、对复仇的执着而被定义为"疯癫"。本文对亚哈"疯狂"的来源及特征进行分析,指出麦尔维尔笔下的亚哈这一"疯狂"形象的塑造在很大程度上受到卡莱尔思想的影响。本文认为,《白鲸》以极端的艺术形式呈现亚哈的"疯狂,实质上表现了对人的存在、价值和尊严的倚重,是对人本主义精神的彰显。Under industrial civilization led by rationality in the 19th century,Captain Ahab in Moby Dick is defined as ＂madness＂ because of his disdain for science and money and the persistence on the revenge towards the white whale.By analyzing the reasons for and features of ＂madness＂,this paper is to figure out that the romanticism presented by Carlyle plays an important role on Ahab＇s mad expression,which highlights in an extreme way the existence,value and dignity of human.As a result,the concern for human,for individual human beings especially,shows the spirit of humanism.
