Immigration issue was the one of the major issues which affected Japan-US Relations from late 19th century to1920s.The Japan-US diplomatic dispute on immigration issue just coincided with these two nations' friction in the Far East and Pacific region. After RussoJapanese War and the First World War in particular,Japan eagerly wanted to be a great power in the world. It caused Americans' concerns and worries about their national interests and security. Therefore United States restrained Japan by means of immigration issue and finally adopted the Immigration Act of 1924 which contained serious discriminatory provision against Japanese. But these conducts would lay a lurking peril on development of Japan-US Relations.
