摘　　要：杨左匋是中国第一位动画专家,也是第一位进入美国沃尔特·迪斯尼制片厂工作的华人动画艺术家,更是一位集国学、美术、书法、音乐、摄影等诸多才华于一身的世界级动画电影大师。但由于他在国内生活及其从事动画制片活动的时间比较短,加之历史久远原始资料搜集检证高度困难,其生平及艺术成就迄今鲜为人知,因而现今关于中国早期动画史的文本叙述中,杨左匋便成为了一个很少被提及的敏感人物抑或争议人物,其贡献长期以来仅作为一种"传说"而未得到国内动画界公认。C. Y. Young is the first animation expert in China and the first Chinese animation artist who entered the U. S Walt Disney Studios and worked there. He is also a world-class expert on animation films with combined gifts in sinology, fine arts, calligraphy, music and photography. Since C. Y. Young only lived and was engaged in animation production in China for a few years, it is difficult to col- lect the original data about him. Therefore, he became a marginal or controversial figure who has been seldom mentioned in works and articles on China＇ s early animation history. His cbntribution has been considered as a ＂legend＂ that hasn＇ t been universally acknowledged in the domestic animation industry. This paper systematically researches Yang＇ s life and his achievements in animation beth at home and abroad, and clarifies some of his controversies in China＇ s early animation history.
