从评价理论的角度重探赛珍珠小说《大地》中的“土地”主题

摘　　要：通过例析叙述者、男主人公和女主人公对"土地"的评价意义项,可以发现,小说运用了不同类别的评价项,如鉴赏的价值、反映,情感的意愿、高兴、安全,判断的妥当。这些态度意义既有积极的,也有消极的,既有词汇层面的,也有小句层面的,它们共同构成一个评价意义"群",在探讨小说主题构建方面发挥了很好的阐释作用。从评价系统对小说主题的试析为运用语言学理论分析和解释文学作品提供了一个颇有意义的研究角度。Appraisal System is an important subsystem for interpersonal meanings in Systemic Functional Grammar.This research makes a tentative application of the appraisal theory to the analysis of The Good Earth so as to find out its appraisal contribution to constructing its general theme—＂Earth＂.In exemplifying the appraisal analyses of attitudinal meaning towards ＂earth＂ from the narrator,the hero and heroine,it is found that the novel is rich in various attitudinal items,such as appreciation,reaction,inclination,happiness,security,judgment,etc.These appraisal meanings,positive or negative,lexical or clausal,weave an appraisal meaning cluster to explain the theme construction in this novel.The present findings offer a new perspective to interpret the appraisal meanings that function in literary works,which can throw light on future researches.
