Objective: To evaluate curative effects of acupotomy combined with manipulation in the treatment of atlas occipital fascia spastic syndrome.Method: 102 patients were randomly divided into two groups.48 cases treatment group were administered with acupotomy and manipulation, while 54 cases of control group were treated with acupuncture and massage.Curative effects were observed after 2 courses of treatment.Result: After 2 courses of treatment,30 cases in treatment group were recovered,11 cases significantly effective,4 cases effective,3 cases ineffective, total effective rate was 93.75%;13 cases in control group were cured,18 cases significantly effective,13 cases effective,10 cases ineffective, total effective rate was 81.48.%.The comparison of both groups showed statistical meaning(P = 0.001,χ2 = 16.649).There was no adverse effect during the treatment. Conclusion: Acupotomy can ease the tension and spasm of atlanto-occipital fascia, increases atlanto-occipital gap to relieve the pressure of vertebral artery and nerve;it can smooth meridians and recondition joint combined with manipulation.Acupotomy and manipulation can improve the symptoms of the patients with atlas occipital fascia spastic syndrome.
