摘　　要：由图书馆目录与书目记录功能、书目关系,探究编目工作的内涵;从实物、程序、产品和运作机制几方面,分析信息技术对编目工作带来的机遇与挑战。知识组织整序作为图书馆的核心竞争力,是数字化信息时代编目工作最适合承担也是最应该承担的内容;唯有了解社会需求、读者群特性、信息内涵以及与之相关的信息技术,编目工作才能更好地为人类记忆和记忆寻求者服务。The author explores connotations of cataloging from the functions of catalogue and bibliographic records, bibliographic relationships, analyzes chances and challenges of information technology to cataloging from object, processes, products and operation mechanism. As the key competitive power of the library, knowledge organization and arrangement is the fittest and the most important work which should be undertaken by cataloging in the digital information age. Only by understanding the needs of society, readers＇ characteristics, information connotation and related information technology, can cataloging provide better service for human memory and memory seekers.
