摘 要:设计在传统的系统功能语言学理论中没有地位,但它在多模态话语分析理论中是一个重要理论概念。本文探讨设计概念在系统功能语言学理论中的地位,以及设计的资源、设计的过程和设计操作框架。研究发现,设计是一个操作概念,处于话语意义和模态之间,是根据话语意义选择合适的模态或者组合的过程。同时,设计要受到情景语境、文化语境、交际目的、体裁和话语意义的制约,设计者要根据这些因素从已有设计资源中选择,也可根据交际的需要创造新的意义,使用新的模态。设计的结果是用于生产的模态或模态组合结构,即多模态语篇。The concept of design has had no place in the classic theory of systemic functional linguistics, but it becomes an important theoretical concept in muhimodal discourse analysis. The present article is intended to investigate the place of design in systemic functional linguistics, the resources for design, the designing process and the operating framework for design. It is found that design is an operative concept, midway between discourse meaning and modes selected, the process of selecting appropriate modes and mode sets according to the discourse meaning. At the same time, design is constrained by the context of culture, context of situation, communicative purpose, genre and discourse meaning, and the designer selects modes from the available resources according to these factors, and can also create new meanings and use new modes according to communicative needs. The Redesigned is the mode or mode set constructions with the meaning they realize, that is, multimodal discourse.
